A Little Bit of Moon Magic 

With the peaceful, centred energy of the moon, Selenite is a powerful crystal which I often find myself drawn to. She is named after Selene - the mystical Goddess of the Moon – and embodies lunar magic in many ways. A form of gypsum, which often appears translucent, white, or pearly, Selenite reflects light in a soft, glowing way that is reminiscent of moonlight.  

Much like the moon, Selenite is said to cleanse and clarify other crystals. She is self-cleansing by nature and will charge other crystals placed within her presence. A truly magnificent crystal full of magic. 

Selene and The Divine Feminine 

As her name suggests, this quiet crystal echoes the serene energy of Selene, the goddess of the moon, who embodies intuition and the divine feminine. Her energy is that of the moon, offering clarity, peace and spiritual connection, channelling this powerful energy in a tangible form.  

A beacon in the night sky, Selene is believed to embody illumination and offer inner guidance. Similarly, Selenite is considered a light in the darkness, bringing clarity, clearing the mind and revealing the truth.  

Additionally, her high water content makes her the perfect crystal for initiating an emotional release, further mirroring the qualities of both Selene and the moon.  

Where to Place Selenite in Your Home 

I use Selenite throughout my home and office; she has so many useful qualities that it’s hard to list them all, but here are just a few!  

Her cleansing energy makes her an ideal crystal to place by your front door, helping to clear away those sticky, unwanted energies as you return home.  

She brings a calming presence in the bedroom, and is said to draw light into the subconscious, promote restful sleep and ward off nightmares. Often used for dream work and enhancing intuition, placing her under your pillow or by your bedside supports these benefits. 

Setting Selenite in the bathroom near the bathtub will amplify purification and self-care rituals (although be careful not to place her in water as she will dissolve over time). 

Beyond personal spaces, her balanced energy is useful for anywhere you have an electrical discharge, as she will neutralise disruptive energies, replacing them with harmonious ones. 

Aura Cleansing and Inner Healing 

This tranquil crystal will cleanse your aura, promote inner harmony and emotional healing. Sweeping your aura with a Selenite wand is a simple but effective way to tap into her energies and cleanse from within. Final Thoughts 

With so many beautiful qualities, it is easy to understand why she is one of my favourite crystals to use within my home and studio. Her protective and enlightening energy fills my home with harmony and comfort, which is so important to me.  

Sadly, due to being such a soft stone, I find that Selenite doesn’t work well for jewellery. For that reason, she hasn’t featured very often in my work. Even so, her ability to cleanse negative or stagnant energy makes her the perfect crystal to keep in your jewellery box. Doing so is a gentle way to refresh your pieces between wears!
